Meet the psychologist
Xin Yang
Hello, my name is Xin (pronounced “Sheen”) and I am a registered psychologist. I am dedicated to helping children and young people thrive through holistic support.
My professional journey began in the classroom as a teacher, and later worked in student wellbeing and disability inclusion in various school settings. My experiences have given me the insight of how children develop socially and emotionally while navigating the everyday demands of school and learning.
As both a psychologist and a parent, I understand raising children is a meaningful journey with its own challenges and rewards. My hope for every child I work with is that they grow into confident, resilient young people who feel comfortable being themselves. I take a practical and collaborative approach, working closely with families to support children in building the skills they need to thrive at school and in life.
What to expect in your first session
Starting something new can feel big, so here’s what our first session usually looks like.
Step 1: Intake form
Before we meet, I’ll ask you to complete a simple intake form. This helps me understand your child’s history, current challenges and your goals, so we can make the most of our time together.
Step 2: Meeting your child and parents
For the first session, I invite parents to attend with their child. This gives everyone a chance to share what they’re noticing at home, at school and in daily life, and helps me build a fuller picture of what’s going on.
Step 3: Creating a plan together
At the end of the session, we’ll talk through the best next steps. This might be one‑on‑one support for your child, parenting sessions, or a mix of both. We’ll agree on a plan together and can adjust it over time as your child’s needs change.
